Here's the issue. Our current replication setup uses merge replication and the publisher is running SQL Server 2005. We need to add another server as a subscriber but it is running Windows Server 2012 which means we can't use SQL 2005.
You can't have a 2008 subscriber with a 2005 publisher so that leaves us looking for options.
Is there a way to keep our existing 2005 publisher but add another publisher (2008)? The 2008 subscriber would look at the 2008 publisher and our existing 2005 subscribers would continue to use the 2005 publisher. But the 2008 and 2005 publishers would talk to each other. Is this a viable option? Anyone have any suggestions?
