Sql Server Transaction Replication

Currently we using SQL sever 2014 Transaction Replication in windows server 2012 (both Publisher and Subscriber are on different servers and with same operating system).

Now, we have a requirement that we need to add a new Subscriber here my question is

Do we need have same operating system for Subscriber that is going to add newly i.e windows server 2012 or else can i use Windows 7 operating System.

Note : Both Publisher and Subscriber are in two different Domains.
